The smell of cheap coffee was what finally woke you up. Sitting up, your back popped angrily, reminding you that sleeping on the floor was probably not the best idea you had ever had. Pulling to a stop you heave a sigh. It had been about sixteen hours since you had left town and you had only stopped for a small snack and bathroom breaks here and there. At least you had made it to the town you were looking for, though it was almost three in the morning. The small motel you had pulled up to seemed to at least be nicer than sleeping in the car for the night, and the sign outside listed a decent enough price for a night. It was a small restaurant, buried in between a few buildings in the old part of town. Quaint and homely, dimly lit, an almost romantic atmosphere hanging from the walls. Had anyone asked you months earlier, you wouldn’t have claimed the place as your own. It had been torn apart at the teeth of critics that condemned everything from the decor, to the food, to the owner herself.
